Trinity Rep is now accepting registration for the Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI), one of the most comprehensive summer arts enrichment programs of its kind in New England. The four-week Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI) has been specifically designed for grades 5-12 and YASI Jr., a weeklong mini-program for elementary school students entering grades 1-4. YASI runs July 1 through August 2, 2014 and YASI Jr. runs August 11 through August 15, 2014. To register for any of the programs, visit www.trinityrep.com. Registrations received by January 17 are eligible for an early bird discount of $100 off regular class tuition. These programs will fill up quickly, and interested students are encouraged to apply today.

Trinity Rep's Young Actors Summer Institute provides students with a hands-on experience through a wide variety of performance, design and movement electives taught by area professionals. The Summer Institute works and rehearses at Trinity Rep's Lederer Theater Center at 201 Washington St., Providence and culminates in two performances on the Trinity Rep stage.

"As one of the largest cultural institutions in Rhode Island, Trinity Rep's mission is to make theater and the arts accessible and available to all Southeastern New Englanders," states JorDan Butterfield, Education Programs Manager. "Theater can transform and enhance people's lives, broaden their perspective, and deepen their understanding of the world around them. At Trinity Rep, we offer a place to be entertained, but also to learn, to laugh and to grow."

The Young Actors Summer Institute meets Monday through Friday with half, full, or extended day enrollment options. YASI 2014 class offerings offer something for everyone, ranging from musical theater to filmmaking, speech & dialects, Shakespeare and comedy. Students can also elect to study auditioning, a capella singing, theater for social change, hip-hop dance, stage combat, and yoga, among other topics. Expanded writing offerings include the new YASI student newspaper, playwriting and sketch comedy. For those who are looking for more of the "behind the scenes" experience, electives include directing a play, set design, technical theater, graphic design, costuming and special effect makeup.

Regular, full day enrollment meets from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm for four weeks with an enrollment fee of $1500. Returning students from last season's classes are offered a discounted rate of $1400. Half day sessions are $750. Extended day enrollment meets from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm throughout the run of the camp for an additional $275 fee. Scholarships and financial aid are available. For detailed information regarding class selections, tuition and scholarships, visit Trinity Rep's Education section at www.trinityrep.com.

The YASI Jr. program for younger students entering grades 1-4 will run August 11-15. Tuition is $200. YASI Jr. provides students grades 1-4 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of acting and creating a character through games, improvisation, music, yoga and more. At the end of the week, the class will perform a beloved children's book or fairy tale for an audience of family and friends.
