Richard Grimes is an accomplished solo percussionist, known primarily for his electric cimbalom playing in the Boston Pop rock band Cordis. His trademark is playing the cimbalom through tube amplification and running it through a multitude of effects to create the signature searing tones that define the band.

Grimes also writes the entire catalogue of music for the band, which is made up of electric 6-string cello, analogue keyboards (Wulitzer, Hammond B3, Fender Rhodes), drums, bass, and percussion - and including instruments that have to be created specially for the group. Grimes also composes for solo cimbalom, solo marimba, and chamber percussion ensembles under Bachovich Publications. He also has written a book on the cimbalom, Gypsy Son, The Evolution of the Concert Cimbalom in Western Music. Richard Grimes will perform at the Courthouse Center For The Arts on October 24th at 8pm. Tickets are $20 Adults, $15 Seniors/CCA Members, and $15 Students.
