Broadway performer Cady Huffman, who won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Ulla in the original Broadway production of The Producers, will be starring as Dolly Levi in the family classic, Hello, Dolly! sponsored by Citizens Bank, which is scheduled to open on June 23 at Theatre By The Sea.
Ms. Huffman first appeared on Broadway in the hit musical La Cage aux Folles. Other Broadway appearances include
Bob Fosse's Big Deal, The
Will Rogers Follies, for which she received her first Tony Award® nomination for her role as Ziegfeld's Favorite, Steel Pier and
Dame Edna: The Royal Tour. In 2001, Ms. Huffman played the role of Ulla in the Broadway hit, The Producers, for which she received the Tony Award® for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical. Other theatre credits include Big Rosemary (title role, written and directed by
Blake Edwards), Italian-American Reconciliation and Gemini (Rome, Italy), As You Like It and Cymbeline (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), L'il Abner (Encores!), Surface to Air (directed by
James Naughton), and Pirates! (Huntington Theatre).
She made her film debut in Hero, which starred
Dustin Hoffman,
Geena Davis, and
Andy Garcia. She also appeared in Throw the Hoolihan, Space Marines, Sunday on the Rocks (directed by
Joe Morton), Romance & Cigarettes, The Nanny Diaries and scheduled for release this year, The Company Men (with
Ben Affleck,
Kevin Costner,
Tommy Lee Jones and
Chris Cooper).
Ms. Huffman is a regular judge on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America," having been described by host Alton Brown as the "
Kitty Carlisle-Hart of Kitchen Stadium." Other television appearances include guest starring roles on "Frasier," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," and "Mad About You," along with a recurring role as herself on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
Hello, Dolly! will be presented at Theatre By The Sea from June 23 - July 11, with preview performances on Wednesday, June 23 at 8:00 pm and Thursday, June 24 at 2:00 and 8:00 pm and opening night on Friday, June 25 at 8:00 pm.. All other performances are scheduled for Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8:00 pm, Thursdays at 2:00 pm, Saturdays at 4:30 and 8:30 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm, with special performance times on Sunday, June 27 at 3:00 and 8:00 pm and a special matinee performance scheduled for Wednesday, July 7 at 2:00 pm.
