The Burbage Theatre Co announces the first play of their 2017-2018 season: Bertolt Brecht's GALILEO, directed by Vince Petronio, which opens previews on August 24, and closes on September 16.

"Brecht's discourse is much more than 'Science vs Religion'. "Galileo" is about more than a striking resemblance between the post truth political world we occupy and the inquisition, though it should be enough to peak our concern," said Burbage Theatre Co Artistic Director Jeff Church, "Galileo" is an acknowledgement that unstoppable progress and unshakeable belief have been at odds from time immemorial, demonstrating an inconsistency in our very nature, collectively as a species and in the character of each individual. A contradiction of the will to, at once, pursue knowledge and to deny it absolutely."

"Galileo" runs from August 24-September 16 at Aurora Providence, 276 Westminster Street, Providence RI. Tickets are $20 (general admission), $15 (students/seniors), and $10 (Rhode Island College students); preview performances (August 24 & 25) are $10.
