Epic Theatre Company is over-the-moon about its October production-the Rhode Island Premiere of Bootycandy by Robert O'Hara.
Sutter is a young boy growing up in the South trying to come terms with his sexuality. In a series of vignettes, we see him explore religion, marriage, and family life all through the unique viewpoint of one of America's most exciting new playwrights.
"I'm so excited about this script I start to shake just talking about it," said Kevin Broccoli, Epic Artistic Director, "It is so fresh, so alive, so relevant-good theater, especially a good comedy, should always feel like an event-a party-and this play is one big, hilarious, dysfunctional party. There are so many wonderful pieces to it that all create this one amazing mosaic of one man's life. It's astounding-it really is."
Broccoli is back in the director's chair for Bootycandy along with a fantastic group of local actors-Cardryell Truss (Epic's The Boys of St. Matthew's Present Les Liaisones Dangereuses), Jason Quinn (The Guys), Tiffany Fenton (These Ruthless Bitches), Justin Pimentel (Total Strangers), and Michelle Walker.
Bootycandy by Robert O'Hara is being presented at Theater 82 in Cranston, located at 82 Rolfe Square. The show will run October 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd. Evening performances will be at 8pm.
