Summer theater is at its finest at Artists' Exchange's 11th Annual One Act Play Festival, opening this Friday, July 22nd at Theatre 82 in Cranston, RI.
Nine original short plays will be performed in "Wave 1," written by national and local playwrights including four Rhode Island writers: Simone Pellegrino of Cranston, Andy Accioli from Warwick, Lauren Annicelli of East Greenwich and Emily Norklun of South Kingstown.
Wave 1 performances run July 22-30, with shows on Fridays at 7:00pm and Saturdays at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Directors are Lauren Annicelli, Jessica Chace (Artistic Director), Tom Chace (Music Director), and David Kane, who act alongside 17 community youth and adult actors. Live music with Tom Chace on piano and Raffi Donoian on guitar will be featured during the plays. Staged in the nearly-round, Audience members will be up close and personal for every moment. The plays explore life, death, and what we do for people (and pets) whom we love. There's something for everyone in this versatile line-up: quirky and dark comedies, suspense, drama, and more.
