2nd Story Theatre's summer season kicks off with military precision with a production of Aaron Sorkin's A Few Good Men performed in the Courtroom of the historic Bristol Statehouse, 240 High Street, Bristol, RI, from tonight, June 1 – June 24.
Staged by Guest Director Bryna Wortman, A Few Good Men concerns the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, he eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.
Previews are Friday June 1 at 8PM and Sunday June 3 at 7PM. Preview tickets are $15. Saturday June 2 is a private performance to benefit The Bristol Statehouse Foundation.
Regular performances are June 6 - June 24. Summer performances are Sundays and Wednesdays at 7:00pm, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM. There will be a 3:00PM matinee on Sunday, June 17. Tickets are $25. Under 21 Tickets are $20.
