Concluding Virginia Opera’s 50th Anniversary season, Virginia Opera performs the world premiere of Loving v. Virginia by Damien Geter with a libretto by Jessica Murphy Moo, in this co-commission with Richmond Symphony. The Lovings were criminally charged for their interracial marriage and forced to leave the state to avoid prison sentences. They took their case to the Supreme Court and won a landmark victory for civil rights in the United States. Sung in English with English surtitles.

Ages: This performance is recommended for ages 13 and older.
