The Lifespan of a Fact at Langhorne Players at the Spring Garden Mill

Fun fact:  The Langhorne Players has resided in the Spring Garden Mill for 48 years.  On April 19 The Langhorne Players at Spring Garden Mill opens the 2024 Season with The Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken & David Murrell and Gordon Farrell, based on the book by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal.

Jim Fingal is fresh out of Harvard when he’s given his first fact-checking assignment for a prominent but sinking New York magazine.  The essay is by John D’Agata, and it’s so good that it could save the magazine…if it’s true.  But do facts always tell the truth?  And is the truth always based in fact?  The Lifespan of a Fact is a “buoyantly literate, wholly resonant” (Washington Post) comedy about the “the ethics of factual truth vs. the beauty of literary dishonesty” (Variety).  Director, Jack Bathke, thinks this show, in keeping with the Langhorne Players slogan, is a play worth talking about, challenging the audience to question what they know.  

The Lifespan of a Fact stars Todd Gregoire as John D’Agata, Jamil Long as Jim Fingal, and Carole Mancini as Emily Penrose.  It is directed by Jack Bathke and Tess Ammerman and produced by Robert A. Norman with stage management by Terri Bentley.

Performances run April 19 thru May 5th at the Spring Garden Mill in Tyler State Park (1440 Newtown-Richboro Road in Newtown, PA). A talk-back with the cast and crew will follow the Sunday, April 28th performance. Tickets are $22 each and may be purchased at www.langhorneplayers.org.  Student rush tickets may be purchased at the box office (depending upon availability) with a valid student ID 30 minutes prior to any performance for $10.
