Texas State Department of Theatre and Dance presents Sister Act, Nov. 19-24 in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre.
Based on the ‘90s hit film of the same name, this heavenly musical comedy follows a nightclub singer, Deloris Van Cartier (Cameron Monroe Thomas), as she is placed in protective custody after witnessing a murder.
Her safe house? A convent. Disguised as a nun, Deloris finds herself in a strictly regimented routine under the watchful eye of Mother Superior (Gianna Kohl). Struggling not to blow her cover, Deloris discovers her calling and the divine power of sisterhood.
Directed by Aaron Brown, choreographed by Cassie Abate, with music direction by Aimee Radics, alongside Cameron Monroe Thomas (Deloris Van Cartier), Gianna Kohl (Mother Superior) the cast features the talents of Moria Poh (Sister Mary Robert), Kelly Whitlow (Sister Mary Patrick), Caroline Davenport (Sister Mary Lazarus), Malia McLellan (Sister Mary Martin of Tours), and Chloe Meinershagen (Sister Mary Theresa). In tandem with the sisters: Aiden Valentine (Eddie Souther) and Austin Riley (Curtis Jackson).
The rest of the company comprises Camila Abraham, Amaya Adams, Sophie Beck, Jacob Canderozzi, Bryan Fortunado, Kyler Huyse, Hannah Jenkins, Ella Reily Knudsen, Ricardo Lopez Montilla, Liz Olaribigbe, Joseph Schindler, Jordan Spena, Simone Straub-Clark, and Tyler Jordan Wesley.
