They say the biggest obstacle to success is getting over yourself. Maybe that's why struggling magician Frank and overworked marketing executive Abby find themselves stuck in life at the cusp of 30. Luckily, they each have their best friend to help them. Unluckily, those friends are their Neuroses. A modern musical comedy with a psychiatric twist, NEUROSIS is a story about finding happiness, falling in love, and dealing with that little voice in your head along the way.
Directed by Andy Sandberg (Straight, Application Pending), and choreographed by Shea Sullivan (Pageant), Neurosis began performances July 25, 2018 and officially opened on August 17.
NEUROSIS stars Jennifer Blood (Matilda) as "Abby," two-time Tony Award nominee Joel Blum (Steel Pier; Show Boat) as "Kenny," Brennan Caldwell (Baghdaddy) as "Neurosis," Susan J. Jacks (Ionescopade) as "Geri," Ian Michael Stuart (Escape to Margaritaville) as "Kurt/Larry/Others," Morgan Weed (American Psycho) as "Neurosalina," and Lortel Award nominee Kevin Zak (Clinton! The Musical) as "Frank."
NEUROSIS features Music Direction by David Aaron Brown, Scenic Design by Charlie Corcoran (Shining City, Irish Rep), Lighting Design by Jake DeGroot (Oh, Hello), Costume Design by Tony Award nominee Michael McDonald (Hair), Sound Design by David Sanderson (Pageant), Casting by Jason Styres, CSA & Andrea Zee, CSA, and the production stage manager is Gregory Fletcher.

Review: Some Kind of Wonderful - BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Maine State Music Theatre
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold
- August 09, 2024
Powered by poetry, fueled by raw and resilient emotion, and presented with passion and high voltage energy by a company committed to the music and message, BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL triumphantly takes the stage as the finale of Maine State Music Theatre’s 2024 season. Exploring the early life and creative journey of popular music’s living legend, Carole King, BEAUTIFUL is a biographical jukebox musical that plays like a top 10 hit parade, at the same time that it tells its disarmingly, immediate and vulnerable story. With the luminous Kyra Kennedy giving a deeply authentic, earthy, and uplifting performance in the title role, BEAUTIFUL offers both absorbing entertainment and inspiration.

Review: MY CAT NAMED LUCY at Capital Fringe Festival
by Jake Bridges
- July 22, 2024
I don’t think anyone will object when I become hyperbolic to say that we, as humans, love our pets. For most people, their cat or dog (or reptile or goldfish or whatever) becomes part of the family once a human assumes the role of pet owner.

Whether or not this is the first production someone has seen of The Book of Mormon, the talent holds up as the actors fully embrace their roles, while the remaining elements still perfectly fit the show's intent as it spreads its messages all over the country. Audiences lauded the funny shock value and energetic performances on opening night.
