About the Album: [enlgish translation follows] MONTRÉAL 1944 Partout, on interdit, on retient.
À Montréal, on permet.
MONTREAL 1944 Everywhere, we prohibit, we retain.
In Montreal, we allow.
The metropolis, which escaped prohibition, looks like Las Vegas. Gambling, women, alcohol; all desires are satisfied. This is the golden age of cabarets, a smoky and prolific nightlife to the economy. Montreal is romantic, sensual… and corrupt. It is on this stage that Lili St-Cyr (Marie-Pier Labrecque) makes her entrance. Bewitching. And comedic.
When Lili St-Cyr imposes herself on the marquee of the Gayety Theater, she happily upsets the life of Sophie (Lunou Zucchini) who dreams that her fiancé Thomas (Maxime Denommée), the hall manager of the Gayety Theater, will give her a chance. . But also the fiery Jessie, the first woman elected to the City of Montreal who fights vice in exchange for votes. Faced with Lili's flamboyance and poise, everyone wonders, learns, flinches.
Naked, a glass of whiskey in her hand, covered in bubbles in her transparent bath which is her new number, Lili St-Cyr disturbs. She advocates her own freedom to choose her professional life as she sees fit. If Lili, colored with all her vices, first upsets Jessie and Sophie's journey, they will learn from her the strength of her conviction: women can be in control.
