Freedom Riders - The Civil Rights Musical 2021

TEMECULA THEATER and ANTHOLOGY INSTITUTE present the world premiere of THE FROG'S PRINCESS: a new musical, with a book by Richard Allen and music and lyrics by Richard Allen and Taran Gray.               

As part of Theatre Barn Records, New York Theatre Barn will release the first single of the New Musicals Mixtape on June 10th, 2023.

On December 10th, Freedom Riders National Monument will release the special concert performance of Allen and Gray’s FREEDOM RIDERS: The Civil Rights Musical in honor of the Freedom Rides 60th anniversary.

New York Theatre Barn will host a free special event live stream of excerpts from the new civil rights musical Freedom Riders on Wednesday, February 24th, 2020 at 7PM EDT. The live 1-hour presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and a special appearance by one of the last surviving Freedom Riders Charles Person.

LA's newest monthly musical series, Feinstein's Presents mostlyNEWmusicals, returns Monday, January 20th, 2020 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), with FREEDOM RIDERS: The Civil Rights Musical by Richard Allen and Taran Gray.

Broadway's Deon'te Goodman (currently performing in Hamilton) will be flying from NYC to LA just for this special performance of FREEDOM RIDERS: In Concert on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He will be playing civil rights activist John Lewis. The concert, presented by MostlyNEWmusicals will be at Feinstein's at Vitello's in Studio City, California on January 20th.

BAYARD: A New Musical will premiere at El Teatro of El Museo Del Barrio, August 9th-August 10th, 2019 in partnership with SCAN NY, Boys & Girls Harbor, Gay Men's Health Crisis, and Facing History.

Broadway's Hamilton's Deon'te Goodman will play civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the new musical "Bayard: A New Musical" in Concert, which highlights the life of the late civil rights activist, Bayard Rustin, which will be presented June 17th at 9:30 PM at Feinstein's/54 Below.

On Sunday three songs from FREEDOM RIDERS: The Civil Rights Musical were released in a compilation album that the show creators, Richard Allen and Taran Gray, named 'The John Lewis Chronicles'. The three choices from the musical are all songs that the character John Lewis sings in the show. The recordings are sung by Anthony Chatmon II who recently played John Lewis in the 2017 New York Musical Festival production of FREEDOM RIDERS: The Civil Rights Musical.
