The Sandhills Repertory Theatre's Executive and Artistic Director, Michael Pizzi, PhD, believes 'charity begins at home' and he, along with his board, have established the Sandhills Theatre Arts in the Schools (STARTS) fund. Theatre arts programs in the Moore County public schools can apply for grants to supplement their theatre programs. This was established because Dr. Pizzi is an occupational therapist and also a professional actor who believes in the power of the arts to transform lives, both as an actor and as an audience member.
