Featuring a cast made up of local theater veterans such as David Henderson (Sweeney Todd) and Rose Higgins (Mrs. Lovett), Sweeney Todd returns to RLT next month. The play runs from February 12-28 in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre.

This musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler is based on a Victorian penny dreadful. Sweeney Todd is a man who seeks revenge on Judge Turpin and teams up with the amorous Mrs. Lovett, a pie maker. When he opens a barbershop above Mrs. Lovett's business, he adds a special ingredient to the recipe that has all of London dying for their pies. Sweeney Todd is directed by Patrick Torres, Artistic Director, in his first full season in this role at RLT.

"Sweeney Todd is without a doubt one of the greatest musicals ever written, and we are thrilled to produce it in our season. We have a stellar local cast who are committed to breathing life into this story and these amazing characters in way that allows us to reflect on who we are today," said Torres.

On Wednesday, February 10, Raleigh Little Theatre will announce the 2016-17 season, which will include a number of area premiers, as well as the dates of the 2nd annual free Movies in the Garden series.

Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919)-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.
