"In a valley...near a village...there the children say they've seen Him..." Across 16th-Century Europe, Christmas songs and tales were often passed from village to village as a means for portraying to peasant children the magical wonder of the nativity story. "Sing Noel," an original new song from The Front Porch Country Band, was written to be sung in French, is presented here in the band's equally-popular Olde-English translation.
Performed as a round, with rich vocal harmonies atop a ¾ waltz-time instrumental style reminiscent of another Christmas classic, "Away In A Manger," listeners may well envision the Christmas of an earlier era, with musicians playing before simple villagers or a French king's 16th-century royal court.
Sing Noel debuts December 12, 2009 at the World Premiere of Christmas Once Upon a Time in at the Williamsport COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER in Williamsport, Pa.
