The Hundred Dresses

Adapted from the book by Eleanor Estes
By Mary Hall Surface

March 12-28, 2010
RLT Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre (General Admission Seating)

It is the 1930's. Wanda Petronski is the new girl at school. She wants to fit in but she is poor, speaks with an accent and wears the same dress to school everyday. She is ignored until one day she says, "I got a hundred dresses. All lined up in my closet." This gets Peggy's attention and the teasing game begins. Maddie feels bad for Wanda but Peggy is her best friend. Should she stand up for Wanda and lose Peggy's friendship? The tough questions lead to easy answers in this celebration of courage, tolerance and artistic creativity. Adapted from the 1945 Newbery Honor book.

Director: Linda O'Day Young
