Broadway under the Stars in conjunction with City Stage from Wilmington will present RENT July 2 & 3 at Raleigh's new downtown amphitheater. This will be the first cultural arts offering at the area's newest venue which opened May 28th.

According to Producer/Director Justin Smith the opportunity to collaborate and present this iconic show in the Triangle's newest setting is a once in a lifetime experience. "We are so thrilled to be bringing this show to Raleigh and provide theatre lovers with a chance to experience this caliber of entertainment in a setting like no other."

Following the outdoor performances additional shows will be available to patrons in Fletcher Hall, located in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, July 8,9,10 and 15,16,17. This will be one of the first productions of RENT ever performed in an amphitheater and will showcase the flexibility of the new Raleigh Amphitheater located in Downtown Raleigh adjacent to the Shimmer Wall at the New Raleigh Convention Center.

The Broadway show received national acclaim and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize as well as multiple TONY® awards. According to Smith "RENT is a modern day fairy tale of people pursuing their dreams, living their lives and cultivating relationships. All of this told by the best characters and through some of the best music ever written for the stage."
