The audience will watch the Academy Awards® telecast on large screens courtesy of ABC-11/WTVD, the Raleigh affiliate of the ABC Television Network. This is the 19th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night® viewing parties throughout the country. This February marks the 5th year that Theatre In The Park's party has been sanctioned by the Academy.
"Oscar night is an event meant to be shared with others. This network of fundraising parties across the nation is a natural extension of that experience and also represents the year-round philanthropic work the Academy does," said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. "This February we are thrilled to be able to celebrate the movies with fans nationwide, while supporting charities around the country."
The Academy will provide party guests in Raleigh the same official program distributed to guests at the Oscarâ presentation at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood. Raleigh guests may feel like stars themselves as they arrive on the red carpet to be photographed by the paparazzi, dine on catered buffet provided by The Angus Barn, enjoy beverages provided by Mutual Distributing Company, and bid on Hollywood and Sports memorabilia all while enjoying the Oscars.
"Oscar Night® generates excitement all over the world," said Ira David Wood III, Executive Director of Theatre In The Park. "With the Academy's help, our guests will feel like they are on the A-list. We had an incredibly enthusiastic turnout last year and hope to raise even more money this year."
