As has been widely reported, Artist David Ilan has been in the process of creating a Michael Jackson tribute painting using the pointillism style in which the paiting is comprised of dots. For the tribute, each dot represents a different influential person. At a special recognition ceremony yesterday, June 21, Ilan added a 'dot' in honor of Dr. Maya Angelou at Angelou's home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. David Ilan is attempting to get a million people, each being represented by a dot, to make up the Michael Jackson tribute portrait. Maya Angelou also read her Michael Jackson tribute poem, 'We Had Him,' at the event. BroadwayWorld brings coverage of the event below.
