North Carolina Theatre and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina are excited to present Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, running in Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts July 25-August 2.

Auditions were held in Raleigh and New York City, and the cast of characters have been set.

· Tom Galantich will star as "Captain von Trapp." He is best known for his recurring role on TV's Law & Order as Joe Schapell. On Broadway, Galantich was in Boeing, Boeing, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Mamma Mia!, The Boys From Syracuse, City of Angels and Into the Woods.

· The high-spirited "Maria" will be played by Kate Fisher, who has been in the Broadway productions of Les Misérables and the National Tours of Little Women and Les Misérables.

The hills are alive with The Sound of Music! At the break of World War II, a high-spirited nun-turned-governess quickly captures the hearts of a widowed naval captain and his seven children. Winner of six Tony Awards and five Oscars, The Sound of Music is sure to be one of your favorite things this summer.
