The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival will hold auditions for the 2010 outreach and education program, Shakespeare To Go.
NCSF is seeking a non-equity touring company of six actors (2 women and 4 men) to perform in repertory, a 60-minute production of Hamlet and a 60-minute production of Taming of the Shrew. Most performances are for North Carolina high and middle school students, with some public and university performances also. The Festival is looking especially for versatile performers with strong Shakespeare background. Experience teaching, fight skills, strong musical (vocal and instrumental) ability are also desired.
Actor contracts will run nineteen weeks, from January 5 until May 15, 2010. Weekly salary will begin at $275 per week. Actors residing outside the Triad will receive housing in High Point. All actors will receive per diem and hotel for overnight tour stops.
To audition actors should prepare two, brief (1-2 minute) contrasting monologues - one male and one female character, and be prepared to sing and/or play an instrument. NCSF requires an 8X10, B&W headshot and detailed resume at the time of the audition.
Auditions will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 and Thursday, October 1, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm each day, and will take place at NCSF's Spirit Center campus, 807 W. Ward Ave., High Point, NC. A final call back is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
