NC Shakes' ROMEO AND JULIET Offers Weekend Getaway and Behind-the-Scenes Experience, 9/28-30

In conjunction with its upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet, the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival is offering a Weekend Getaway Package designed to give theatre lovers and novices alike an in-depth look behind the scenes. The weekend excursion takes place Sept. 28-30 and includes tickets to one performance, accommodations at the new luxury High Point Plaza Hotel and a variety of entertainment options.

Travelers can book a package for Friday through Sunday, a Saturday-Sunday package or a one-day Saturday-only option. All packages are offered for couples or individuals.

Friday, Sept. 28

7:30-9 p.m., Spirit Center – Final Friday with Nekkid Feet. NCShakes’ new monthly entertainment series present the improv comedy troupe Nekkid Feet. Cash bar and snacks.

Overnight stay, High Point Plaza Hotel (double or single occupancy)

Saturday, Sept. 29

Discover High Point-area attractions on your own

4 p.m., String & Splinter Club – Meet the Festival Reception and Elizabethan Buffet. Meet NCShakes’ leaders, actors and designers at a reception at High Point’s beautiful String & Splinter Club followed by a buffet dinner featuring Elizabethan fare and insightful comments on the production by director Steve Umberger.

7:30 p.m., High Point Theatre – Romeo and Juliet performance (Patrons may attend the performance of their choice.)

Overnight stay, High Point Plaza Hotel (double or single occupancy)

Sunday, Sept. 30

11 a.m., Spirit Center – Post-Show Talk Back. Interact with members of the Romeo and Juliet cast as they share insights about the play and their characters.

11:30 a.m., Spirit Center – Brunch

12:30 p.m., Spirit Center – Classics in Context Series. James Hartley (UNC Charlotte) presents “The Kids Are All Right: Love, Sex and Marriage Across the Generation Gap.” Part of a series of talks by North Carolina scholars.

2 p.m., High Point Theatre – Romeo and Juliet performance (Patrons may attend the performance of their choice.)

The full weekend package including a two-night stay at the High Point Plaza and all events Friday through Sunday is $425 for a couple or $300 for an individual. For the full weekend without the hotel stay, the packages are $250 (couple) or $150 (single).

The Saturday-Sunday package including one-night hotel stay is $325 (couple) or $225 (single). Without the hotel stay, the cost is $225 (couple) or $125 (single).

For the one-day Saturday-only package including hotel stay, the cost is $250 (couple) or $200 (single). Without the hotel stay, the Saturday-only package is $175 (couple) or $100 (single).
