The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is partnering with local high schools and colleges this winter to give students a unique experience tied to the Broadway tour of FROST/NIXON, coming to the Belk Theater Feb. 10 - 15.

Students are watching video excerpts of the famed interviews of President Richard M. Nixon, conducted by British talk-show host David Frost in 1977, and using a study guide that explores the Nixon administration, the Watergate investigation, and profiles of the major players involved in this monumental series of interviews. After studying the historical events and video footage that inspired Peter Morgan's award-winning play and Oscar-nominated film, every student will be treated to a free ticket to see the hit play FROST/NIXON, courtesy of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

"The Center's Education Institute is pleased to play a part in enriching local students' curriculum through this unique experience," says Tom Gabbard, president of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. "More than 600 tickets will be distributed to students in Charlotte and the surrounding area."
Six Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, one Union County School, and seven colleges/universities will take part in the community outreach program. Participating high schools include the Northwest School of the Arts, North Mecklenburg High School, Garinger High School, Independence High School, Olympic High School, Audrey Kell High School, and Central Academy of Technology and Art. College students from Belmont Abbey College, Catawba College, UNCC, Winthrop University, Johnson C. Smith University, Queens University and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College-studying topics as varied as political science, history, sociology, English and Communications-will also take part.
