This July, many of Broadway's finest will head to North Carolina to participate in The Performing Arts Project Summer Intensive (www.performingartsproject.com). The Performing Arts Project was formed by a group of respected industry professionals to educate young performers in all aspects of the performing arts. Under the Artistic Direction of Jonathan Bernstein (Broadway: Chicago, The Iceman Cometh), The Performing Arts Project Summer Intensive artists include Tony winners Laura Benanti and Billy Crudup as well as Tony nominees Hunter Bell, John Ellison Conlee, Gavin Creel, Nancy Dussault, Christopher Gattelli, Celia Keenan-Bolger and Smash's Brian d'Arcy James as well as Broadway casting director Dave Clemmons, Dexter's Josh Cooke, The Good Wife's Monica Raymund and This Means War's Abigail Spencer, among many others.

The Performing Arts Project Summer Intensive is a three-week residential training program held annually during the month of July on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. High school and college-aged performers, selected by audition only, converge for three weeks of training with dedicated professionals including Tony winners and other entertainment industry luminaries. Students take classes in the major performance disciplines: acting, singing, and dancing, along with countless specializations. The schedule is rigorous and the atmosphere thrilling: the faculty considers the students to be fellow artists, and treats them like professionals during a thirteen hours-a-day, seven day-a-week program of study.

Auditions for The Performing Arts Project Summer Intensive will take place in New York City on Saturday, February 25 at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Avenue at 11am. Digital submissions are being accepted until February 17, 2012 via www.performingartsproject.com/auditions.

The Performing Arts Project is committed to assembling young aspirants from all over the world, from all walks of life. Of paramount importance is to provide access to Performing Arts Project programs for those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. Scholarships are available, including one in partnership with the Kennedy Center. The Performing Arts Project offers dynamic and constantly evolving programs that currently include their Summer Intensive, Young Performers Program, Master Class Series and www.10outof12.com. It has been said that the challenge of education is not to prepare people for success, but to prepare them for failure. The Performing Arts Project aims to nourish a generation of performers who cannot fail to succeed.
