Inspired by world-renowned opera singer Maria Callas' magnificent Juilliard master class series, the Tony Award®-winning play Master Class spotlights the tour-de-force artist and vulnerable woman known as La Divina. Join Callas as she relentlessly coaxes, prods, and edifies her young students, motivating them to give the performances of their lives, while revealing her humor, her demons, and her genius. Master Class runs August 8 through 19 at the Kennedy Theatre.

All performances are at the Kennedy Theatre in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at http://www.theatreraleigh.com.

"I have respected and enjoyed Ray Dooley's work at Playmakers for years, so I am so excited about him helming this fascinating play about Maria Callas starring Broadway star and Theatre Raleigh favorite Judy McLane!" - Lauren Kennedy Brady, Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Raleigh

Terrence McNally's play is based on the legendary series of master classes given by opera diva Maria Callas (Judy McLane) at Juilliard in 1971 and 1972. In the play, Callas berates her students- Sophie (Alana Sealy), Sharon (Juliana Valente), and Tony (Jason Karn) as much as she encourages them. She confronts the disappointments in her own life and her relationship with the shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis.
