Due to the popularity and complete sell out of Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy's production of "I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change", we have added two additional performances; July 24th and 25th at 8PM.
If you've ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit, then Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy's second show of the 2009 season is the place to find the answers in the hilarious award-winning musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
Often described as "Seinfeld set to music" (The Star Ledger) and considered to be "The most entertaining show on or off Broadway" (Gannett Newspapers), I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is a celebration of the mating game and takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as "the relationship." With books and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, to those who have dared to ask, "Say, what are you doing Saturday night?"
Tito Hernandez returns to Hot Summer Nights to direct I Love You... after his successful direction last season of the musical comedy Personals.
"The main reason I returned to Hot Summer Nights is because I felt strongly about helping to support local summer theatre that was not your typical big scale "high tech" production", says Hernandez who added, "HSN is theatre that stimulates the soul and leaves room for the viewers' imagination."
Joining Hernandez on his production team are Tiffany Owle (Production Stage Manager), Curtis Jones (Lighting Designer/Tech Director), Phil Valera (Sound Designer), Leanne Heintz (Properties Mistress), Kristin Grieneisen & Casey Watkins (Costumes) and Natalie Griffie (Assistant Director). Jay Wright takes on the role of Musical Director/keyboard with Joan Beck on violin.
The cast includes a talented group of actors who are no strangers to the Triangle theatre stages including Yolanda Rabun (Woman 1), Andrea Schulz Twiss (Woman 2), Aaron Pratt (Man 1) and Jason Sharp (Man 2).
To keep those romantic sparks alive, Hot Summer Nights and their generous sponsors are also giving theatre-goers a chance to enjoy a Romantic Raleigh Getaway. Anyone who attends one of the perfomances can enter for a chance to win two tickets to one of the remaining 2009 season shows, dinner, a hotel stay and a spa visit.
