Deep Dish Theater Company invites you to join a lively, informal discussion of Sara Paretsky's Hardball Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. The conversation, presented in conjunction with the theater's production of Superior Donuts, will be led by Evelyn Daniel and is free and open to the public. No prior attendance or registration is required.

Chicago's racially charged history is gritty and the disappearance of Lamont Gadsden seems suspect, but veteran detective V.I. Warshawski isn't afraid to get dirty in Sara Peretsky's Hardball. The no-nonsense gumshoe is on the case, reconnecting with her father's old cop friends, visiting jailed gang leaders and delving into the past. As V.I. edges closer to the truth and Petra, a cousin visiting her, suddenly disappears, it may be that not just the city, but also her own family hid something all these years...

Sara Paretsky upended the mystery genre with the creation of her best known character, V.I. Warshawski, a witty, gutsy female detective who takes matters into her own hands. Paretsky is a New York Times Best Seller and winner of the British Crime Writer's Cartier Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement. Today, her books are published in 30 countries. She lives in Chicago, where continues to pursue her personal passion for social justice with a variety of volunteer work in the city.

Flyleaf Books is a full-service, community-oriented independent bookstore, locally-owned by three long-time Chapel Hillians with a love and knowledge of books, a commitment to providing stellar customer service, and experience in the book trade. The store is located at 752 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (Historic Airport Rd) in Chapel Hill, next to Foster's Market and Flying Burrito.

With every play it produces, Deep Dish Theater offers an accompanying Book Selection designed to broaden and enhance the theater-going experience. Readers are invited to discuss the book on an online blog and attend an informal meeting that is free and open to the public, traditionally held prior to a designated performance of the current production.

Deep Dish Theater Company is located in Chapel Hill's University Mall, located on Estes Drive and US 15-501.
