The fifth annual Broadway Voices season is bringing a fun-filled season of Broadway stars to Garner Performing Arts Center.
The popular series returns to Garner with a series of one-night-only concerts that will be filled with excitement, amusement, and awesome entertainment as three of the most popular Broadway stars present their particular brand of performance.
David Burnham, one of the most popular artists ever in Broadway Voices, comes back by popular demand. The former Fiyero brings his brand of Wicked good fun on Dec. 13. Burnham sells out all over the United States, Canada and Europe with a blend of humor and a big voice that has filled venues such as the Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
He is best known for Wicked and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, but he won rave reviews in Assassins, Light in the Piazza and Godspell.
Capathia Jenkins, who just left the Broadway smash hit, Newsies will take the GPAC stage by storm on January 31 with her "Capathia Jenkins is More Woman Than You Know." She brings a bigger-than-life personna to the stage. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War and gained more acclaim with her performance in Godspell. Among her Broadway credits are Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me; Caroline, or Change; and The Look of Love.
Jenkins approaches a song the same way she approaches a script. She looks for the nuances, the secret hidden within the notes or text. She seeks the melody, harmony and rhythm. She asks herself: what am I trying to say? What do I want my audience to experience with me? She will take her Garner audience on a journey.
Alli Mauzey won't be arriving in Garner on March 6 in the bubble that encased her as she made her nightly appearance as Glinda in Broadway's Wicked, but she will bring the same humor and tremendous talent that has made her a Broadway darling.
Mauzey has been called the best Glinda ever. The San Diego Union Tribune described Mauzey as an "extra-prissy witch with a riotous ...edge to her perk. She applies comic chops and also packs a knockout soprano and a loopy physicality."
Mauzey has performed with symphony orchestras around the country after making her Broadway debut in Crybaby.
