Emmy winning stand up comedian Wanda Sykes makes her debut at DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

"True to our presenting mission, we're bringing the world's best comedians to the stage at DPAC. Wanda is an exceptional performer. Besides a wildly popular TV and movie career, her stand up show is topical and painfully funny. Added with our other all-star comedy events like Brian Regan, Jerry Seinfeld, and Cedric the Entertainer, it's clear that DPAC is the Triangle's home for superstar entertainment" said Bob Klaus, GM of DPAC.

Tickets start at $28.00 plus service charges.  Friends of DPAC members may place their orders on Wednesday, December 1st and tickets go on sale Friday, December 3rd at 10am, through Ticketmaster outlets including Crabtree Valley Mall, and Lowes Foods, online at DPACnc.com and charge by phone at 800-745-3000.  Joining the Friends of DPAC is free, and you can register at www.DPACnc.com/friendofdpac. Stand up comedian, actress and writer, Wanda Sykes is arguably one of the funniest stand up comics today.  Sykes recently wrapped the first season of her own late night talker on FOX; The Wanda Sykes Show aired on Saturday nights. In October of 2009 she was seen in her second HBO stand up special I'ma Be Me. Sykes also returned as "Barb" in the CBS comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine, in it's 5th season. In the fall of 2003 she was seen on Fox's Wanda at Large in which she wrote, produced and starred. She also has a one hour Comedy Central special called Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied. In addition, she can be seen on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm & heard on Comedy Central's Crank Yankers as the voice of Gladys Murphy.
Her television resume is vast, and includes the Wanda Sykes:  Sick & Tired comedy special and the critically acclaimed Chris Rock Show on HBO in which she was nominated for three Primetime Emmy's. In 1999 she won the Emmy for "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special".  In 2001, she won the American Comedy Award for "Outstanding Female Stand Up Comic." She won three more Emmy's, in 2002, 2004 and 2005, for her work on Inside the NFL.

Sykes has appeared in the feature films Evan Almighty & Monster-In-Law, and lent her voice to Over The Hedge for Dreamworks.  Her first book titled Yeah I Said It is a hilarious collection of essays touching on life, family and current events. In 2009, Sykes made history as the first African-American woman master of ceremonies at the White House Correspondents' dinner. Please visit www.wandasykes.com for more information.
