Two Triangle theatre artists, Katja Hill and Lormarev Jones, join forces on June 28 & 29, 2013 to present a pair of solo shows at Common Ground Theatre. Jones and Hill, both deeply entrenched in the Triangle theatre scene, bring their own brand of humor and insight to their productions. Each show presents its own separate theme, and will be divided by an intermission.
The Virgin Cookbook, by Lormarev Jones: "Tired of the prodding of family and friends and the lewd jokes of random acquaintances, a self-proclaimed 30-year-old virgin sets out to battle a world trying to make her "give it up." Refusing to adhere to the "use it or lose it" policy and heeding the sound advice of her grandfather, she navigates the tricky sexual paradoxes and surprises of modern American society. Funny, sassy, and full of anarchic fun, The Virgin Cookbook explores learning to "give it up" without losing yourself in the process.
Debris, by Katja Hill: "They say you can't take it with you, but what if you tried? Reflecting on topics like space junk, yard sales, the diamond district, Hummels and television shopping, Debris is a personal story about unintended legacies of things lost and found."
"When these two women contacted me with and interest to perform their shows, it seemed obvious as a producer to pair them on one night. Ms. Hill enjoyed much success with her past solo show at Common Ground Theatre, "Cornucopia of Me," and Lormarev Jones has been developing her one-woman piece at Sarah Lawrence's MFA program this past year. It promises to be a wonderful evening of new perspectives and personal voices," said Common Ground Theatre owner Rachel Klem.
