Learn the craft screenwriting in this exciting six-week class led by Jonathan Fitts (NYU/MFA in Dramatic Writing) held from 6:30 to 9:30pm on Mondays from February 3rd through March 10th at Burning Coal Theatre Company, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Participants will learn the intricacies of screenwriting through discussion, film analysis, and the writing of their own films. Emphasis will be made on concepts of structure, character, plot, dialogue, and how screenwriters can effectively use the medium of film to tell their stories. Fitts recently earned his MFA in Dramatic Writing at New York University where he was awarded a departmental honor for outstanding achievement in writing for the stage. Mr. Fitts is a published playwright, winner of the Kennedy Center's John Cauble Outstanding Short Play Award, winner of the David L. Shelton Full-Length Play Award, and he has been both a finalist and semi-finalist for the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. He has taught playwriting, screenwriting, acting, directing, script analysis, and theatre history. He is Burning Coal Theatre Company's Director of Education.
