Odyssey Community School will host a spring concert/dance with local female trio The Swayback Sisters on Saturday, April 13 at 6 PM at their campus, 90 Zillicoa St. in Asheville. A raffle with a first prize of $2,000 will be drawn during the concert as well. Admission is $10 and free for children 10 and under. All proceeds benefit Odyssey Community School.
"Spring Swing" is family-friendly and will have something for everyone. Beginning at 5 PM, the school will offer various activities for children 12 and under. Food trucks The Lowdown and Flying Falafel Brothers will be parked in front of the school and be on-site from 5 - 7 PM. Take the Cake! will be selling baked goods inside in the café.
The Swayback Sisters are an all-female, close harmony trio based out of Asheville, NC. They specialize in old-school country soul, Appalachian-style folk ballads, and acoustic blues. The group will release their debut album, "The Country & The City," recorded with Odyssey's music director and teacher River Guerguerian in the school's music room/studio. The album will be available for purchase at the concert.
This concert event doubles as the drawing day for Odyssey's raffle to benefit its scholarship fund. The raffle has three prizes, 1st is $2000, 2nd is a full summer of Odyssey Summer Adventure Camp (one child only) or a full summer pool membership, and 3rd is an iPad Mini. Tickets are $20, and they also count as admission for two to the concert. The drawing will be held between The Swayback Sisters' two sets. Raffle tickets are available in the school's main office, from your favorite Odyssey student, and online: http://odysseycommunity.org/raffle/.
