Endangered Species at The New Stage

The latest play by Petr Zelenka, one of the most successful Czech dramatists. A tale of a battle with a multinational pharmaceutical corporation, of recovery of long-lost friendship and many forms of love. The play takes as its theme the relationship of the artist to reality, or, more precisely, media reality. What are the limits of that which one can accept and that which is no longer acceptable? What should be revered more: moral principles or friendship? A famous photographer is addressed by young “creators” and, despite finding their world ridiculous, ultimately surrenders to their enthusiasm and gets down to work. Yet the promotional campaign becomes an activist battle and friendship turns out to a settling of accounts.
