Authored choreographer Michael Corder, Cinderella was premiered by the CNB in March 1997. Awarded the Laurence Olivier Awards and Evening Standart this year, tells the misadventures of a girl on the path to happiness. The seductive score by Prokofiev, full of waltzes, mazurkas and gavotes contains, in almost its entire length, something magical but also disturbing that we announced in the first instance, that the story is not innocent. This strange feeling, alternating between acid and melancholy, is symptomatic of the conditions in which the score was written during the German invasion. We also evokes the stage of life when the composer was torn between loyalty to socialist ideals or their talents. Corder is an example of the great choreographic school English, where the musicianship, the technical purity and careful construction dramaturgical qualities are relevant and it shows here as in any of his other creations.
The magic of this ballet in three acts, also has the sets and costumes of famous artist Yolanda Sonnabend.
