Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) wrote, in all, nine symphonies. In the two concerts that the Metropolitan brings Almada, four will be interpreted: the Fourth and Sixth symphonies on Friday, and the Fifth and Seventh symphonies on Sunday. The contrast between the even and odd symphonies symphonies will then be clear. It is considered that the first were written in periods of greater relaxation after stress than previous symphonies, most dramatic and monumental, had demanded the German composer. On the other hand, the nine symphonies of Beethoven correspond to crystallization in a way that Haydn and Mozart had begun to develop and, accordingly, no longer left to exercise their influence, particularly on the work of Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Berlioz and Liszt.
The Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra debuted on June 10, 1992, and has come to associate the practice and teaching of music through a close relationship with the Higher National Academy Orchestra, the Metropolitan Vocational School and the Music Conservatory Metropolitan. The group became from the beginning, a reference in the national panorama orchestral, counting already with several performances abroad, eleven albums, and dozens of collaborations with some of the most acclaimed conductors and soloists internationally. The artistic direction of the training is currently in charge of the conductor and composer Pedro Amaral.
