The mystery thriller will be presented by Lakewood Theatre Company, Jan. 3 – Feb. 9, 2025, on the Headlee Mainstage at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.
The Maltese Falcon, is a mystery-thriller based on the serialized story by Dashiell Hammett, and adapted for the stage by David Jacklin. This classic story brings the gripping world of film noir to the stage, captivating audiences with its blend of mystery, intrigue, and unforgettable characters.
Directed by acclaimed director David Sikking ( Shakespeare in Love, Blithe Spirit, Murder on the Orient Express),The Maltese Falcon follows private detective Sam Spade as he navigates a treacherous web of deception and danger in pursuit of a priceless artifact. Sharing his vision for the production, Mr. Sikking notes: “The Maltese Falcon is not just a story about a detective; it’s about the moral complexities of human nature. We will be transporting the audience into the heart of the 1940s, complete with the atmospheric tension of film noir.”

The Story: The Maltese Falcon follows private detective Sam Spade (Ty Boice) as he becomes embroiled in a dangerous quest for a priceless statue, the Maltese Falcon. When Spade’s partner is murdered while investigating the case, he is drawn into a web of deceit involving a mysterious femme fatale, Brigid O'Shaughnessy (Ashley Pio). She seeks Spade’s help to find the legendary statuette. Spade becomes embroiled in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a host of colorful characters, including the sinister Casper Gutman (Bobby Bermea), the menacing Joel Cairo (Parth Ruparel) and henchman Wilmer Cook (Tristan Roseff). As Spade delves deeper into the mystery, he must confront his own ambitions and the dangerous allure of the falcon, ultimately leading to a dramatic revelation about trust and loyalty.
The cast also includes Amber Green as Effie Perine, Sam’s loyal secretary; Greg Prosser as Miles Archer, Sam’s partner; Tricia Castañeda-Guevara as Iva Archer, the wife of Sam’s partner, and Jasper Bracely as Tom Polhus, a police detective.
