Monsieur Argan is a miserable, miserly hypochondriac who complains of a million ills, and groans even more when he gets the bills from the quacks who are happy to treat him. So he devises a scheme to get his own free health care by marrying his daughter off to a medical student -- but she's in love with her music teacher.

This broad farce of slapstick, bawdy humor, and nasty characters is also a biting satire of greed by one of the greatest comic writers in history.
