Profile Theatre presents concert stagings of RUINED, Lynn Nottages Pulitzer Prize-winning play alongside Brechts modernist classic that inspired it. The same cast of 11 powerhouse actors of color, accompanied by acclaimed percussionist Rob Smith, will perform both plays. RUINED is a haunting, probing work about the resilience of the human spirit inspired by Nottage's interviews with women survivors of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Brecht's play highlights one woman's struggle to survive and profit off war at all costs, including the loss of her children. While wildly different in form and sensibility, both plays feature formidable matriarchs who use their ability to capitalize on wartime desires to survive the brutalities of war. RUINED runs Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, December 4, 6 and 8 @ 7:30 pm and Saturday December 7 @ 2 pm. MOTHER COURAGE runs Thursday and Saturday, December 5 and 7 at 7:30 pm and Sunday December 8 @ 2 pm
