Bag&Baggage Productions Extends Critically Acclaimed Beginnings & Endings for an Additional Weekend!
Hillsboro, OR – Due to popular demand, Beginnings & Endings, the innovative theatrical event directed by Sarah Lynn Brown, will extend its run for one additional weekend at Bag&Baggage Productions. Audiences now have three more chances to experience this dynamic two-part theatrical experience: Thursday, March 6 at 7:30 PM, Friday, March 7 at 7:30 PM, and a final performance on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at www.bagnbaggage.org.
A thrilling and playful journey into Shakespeare’s world, Beginnings & Endings features two unique one-act plays: Richard 3³ and Femme Endings. This one-of-a-kind pop-up museum performance offers a fresh and intimate look at the Bard’s work, reimagined through a modern lens.
A Bold and Captivating Double Feature
In Richard 3³, Shakespeare’s epic Richard III is distilled into an electrifying one-hour adaptation. Featuring only three actors who collectively portray the titular role alongside multiple other characters, this fast-paced performance peels back the layers of ambition, manipulation, and power struggles with striking clarity. As one reviewer from Some Scripts raved:
“Signe Larsen gives a more gruff and intimidating performance of Richard, Jacquelle Davis leaves us hanging on the edge of our seats, and Mindy Mawhirter’s rendition shows us Richard’s full power of manipulation. When the three are onstage together, speaking and moving as one Richard, [the] direction shines and draws us in completely to Richard’s inner world.”
Complementing this powerful take on Shakespeare’s history play is Femme Endings, an interactive and engaging theatrical experience that reclaims and reexamines the voices of Shakespeare’s female characters. Through humor, audience participation, and sharp analysis, Femme Endings brings new life to figures like Ophelia, Juliet, and Lady Macbeth, providing fresh perspectives on their roles in the canon. Oregon Arts Watch praised the piece, calling it:
“A bit reminiscent of the musical Six, in which the wives of Henry VIII dish to the audience and each other about you-know-who, and more. The female characters here get to express out loud—often poetically—what they couldn’t on the original stages.”
Why Audiences Can’t Get Enough
Since opening, Beginnings & Endings has captivated theatergoers with its daring approach, insightful storytelling, and high-energy performances. The show has received glowing reviews for its accessibility, humor, and innovation. Another reviewer remarked:
“This interactive show tears down the fourth wall as actors directly ask the audience for feedback with a coin toss, invite audience members onstage for thumb wars, and even traverse into our ranks to look for mementos in our pockets.”
Bag&Baggage is thrilled to offer audiences three final opportunities to witness this exhilarating production before it closes for good. Don’t miss your chance to experience Shakespeare like never before!
