Chris Thile announced that Tune-Yards, Willie Watson & The Fairfield Four, the Lucas Brothers, and duet partner Madison Cunningham would be his guests for the January 13 broadcast of Live from Here, (formerly A Prairie Home Companion), from the Keller Auditorium.
Tickets are on sale now for the live broadcast, which will also feature the First-Call Radio Players-Rich Dworsky, Brittany Haas, Chris Eldridge & Ted Poor, and our Acting Company-Tim Russell (man of a thousand voices), Serena Brook and sound effects wizard Fred Newman. Plus, fan favorites: the Instant Internet Song Request, a weekly birthday salute to musicians, and Chris will compose and perform a unique new song for the live broadcast.
Chris Thile was hand selected by Garrison Keillor to take over as host of the famed and long-running live radio variety show in the fall of 2016. Chris-a multiple Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur Fellow and a member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek-is a mandolin virtuoso, composer and vocalist. With his broad outlook that encompasses classical, rock, jazz, and bluegrass, Thile transcends the borders of conventionally circumscribed genres, creating a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike. Thile's latest album, Thanks for Listening, (Nonesuch Records) containing 10 studio "re-imaginings" of "Songs of the Week" from Chris' inaugural season in 2016-17.
Live from Here with Chris Thile is produced by American Public Media.
