Third Rail Repertory Theatre presents Static by Dan Rebellato, directed by Scott Yarbrough*, running May 1-24, 2015 at the Imago Theatre in Portland, Oregon.

"You know when a song starts and it feels loose and chaotic? But then the drums come in and everything make sense. That's what he was in my life. He walked into my life and everything made sense. He was the moment when the drums come in." - Static

Starring: Sam Dinkowitz, Kelly Godell, Maureen Porter*, and Rolland Walsh*.

Sara's life is thrown into disorder when her husband, Chris, dies unexpectedly. Trying to cope with her loss she discovers a compilation tape, apparently made for her by him. The only thing is, by the time he died, Chris was profoundly deaf. With the help of a friend she begins to unravel the secret of the tape, hoping that it may be his final message to her from beyond. STATIC is a beautiful, vibrant play of love, music, movement, and the difficulties of connecting no matter the language. In a bold theatrical move, it is also written to be performed bilingually in both English and sign language.

The play runs May 1 - May 24, 2015, Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2pm at the Imago Theatre, 17 SE 8th Ave. Portland, OR 97214. Tickets available by phone at 503-235-1101 or online at thirdrailrep.org. Single tickets $24 - $47 (plus online service fees).

Dan Rebellato's plays include Chekhov in Hell (Plymouth Drum, 2010), Static (Suspect Culture & Graeae, 2008), Here's What I Did With My Body One Day (Lightwork, 2005/6), Mile End (Analogue, 2007), Beachy Head (Analogue, 2009), Theatremorphosis (Suspect Culture & CCA, 2009), Outright Terror Bold and Brilliant (NYT/Soho, 2006) and A Modest Adjustment (National Theatre, 2006). He's written twelve plays for BBC Radio, including Cavalry, My Life is a Series of People Saying Goodbye, and Negative Signs of Progress, and he's currently writing two plays for the Drum Theatre in Plymouth. He is a Professor of Contemporary Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he teaches British theatre, playwriting, theory and philosophy, contemporary theatre, and music & performance.

Director Scott Yarbrough is the founding artistic director of Third Rail Repertory Theatre. He has directed 24 of the company's mainstage productions and has served as its artistic director since the company was founded.
