Post5 Theatre takes audiences into the mind of Shakespeare's arguably most famous and complex protagonist, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Directed by Portland stalwart Paul Angelo, Post5's abridged and multimedia vision of Hamlet marks the third production of its 2014 season, bringing its trademark fast-paced, here-and-now approach to what many consider to be Shakespeare's masterpiece. Utilizing Post5's intimate Black-Box theatre and new multimedia projections to create a show that is close, personal, and deeply psychological; Post5's Hamlet will focus on Prince Hamlet's relationship with his late father, and the universal themes of doubt, trust, and duty that accompany that.
In addition, Post5 is also introducing its Experience Hamlet project, an incorporative theatrical experience for students that takes them through the production process as it happens. The Experience Hamlet project consists of interviews with cast and crew, the opportunity for school visits from various artists involved, as well as the option of either a pre-show discussion or post-show talkback for students and educators dependent on preference. The Experience Hamlet Project marks the first time that Post5 has put together a comprehensive companion to one of its shows.
Hamlet will run approximately 2 and one-half hours with one 15-minute intermission. The show runs Thursday-Sunday, March 27 - May 4 at 7:30PM. Tickets are $15 (Sundays are Pay-What-You-Will) and can be purchased atwww.postfivetheatre.org/tickets as well as www.boxofficetickets.com. All shows at Post5 Theatre's Black-Box at 850 NE 81st Ave, Portland 97213.
