Portland Opera hosts a special community recital featuring the work of soprano Helen Huang, in her first year as a resident artist with the company. The performance features Chorus Master & Assistant Conductor Nicholas Fox on piano.

The Resident Artist Series features intimate and direct performances - focused on the singer, the pianist, and art song. Selected through a competitive national search process, each of Portland Opera's Resident Artists reflect a bright future for the art of opera.

June 5, 2018 at 7:00PM, Whitsell Auditorium, Portland Art Museum, 1219 SW Park Avenue, Portland, OR 97205. Admission is free; Reservations are highly recommended. 503.241.1802 or PatronServices@portlandopera.org. A $20 suggested donation benefits Portland Opera's Resident Artist program.

HELEN HUANG, soprano, made her Portland Opera debut during the 2018 Big Night concert and also performed the role of Countess Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto this month. In July, she will sing the roles of Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola, and Amor in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice. Prior to joining the Resident Artist Program, Huang appeared as the title character in Moore's The Ballad of Baby Doe at Central City Opera, as well as in the roles of La Fée in Massenet's Cendrillon, and Poppea in Handel's Agrippina at New England Conservatory. An ardent believer in music supporting social causes, Huang is a co-founder of Voices of the East, a musical collective that promotes and advocates young Asian and Asian-American musicians' voices in the contemporary classical music world.
