Portland Opera Announces November Classic Opera Image

Portland Opera General Director Christopher Mattaliano announced today the addition of a "November Classic" opera to launch the 2018/19 season. The company will begin the season in November with four performances of Verdi's La Traviata at the Keller Auditorium, and will continue to offer the majority of programming in spring and summer of 2019. This adjustment positions Portland Opera to build upon the established summer season, while realigning the schedule to offer programming in the autumn interval.

"All of us at Portland Opera are committed to listening to our constituents and focusing on the strength and future of our organization," says Christopher Mattaliano. "We've listened to the feedback, and understand that our audiences enjoy opera in the summer, but also miss the excitement of attending the opera during Portland's cold and rainy months. We are taking this message to heart and adjusting our season to add a beautiful classic in November, while continuing to strengthen our spring and summer offerings."

Following this classic piece in autumn, the company will continue to offer the majority of their programming in spring and summer. The production schedule will be adjusted slightly, to five performances at the Newmark Theatre in March of 2019, followed by the annual Big Night Concert at the Keller Auditorium in May, four performances at the Keller Auditorium in June, and six performances at the Newmark Theatre in July. The full season will be announced in June, and subscription packages (including La Traviata) will go on sale at that time.
