The story: Plans are underway for Christmas with the usual toy making, package wrapping, cookie baking work for the elves when in walks Seymour B. Liverworth, a fast talking con man who convinces the elves that his "amusemachine" will revolutionize the toy-making industry. In reality, as each elf steps into the machine, they are turned into life-sized toys. All that will be left to step into the machine will be Santa and then Christmas will belong to Seymour! Thanks to Charlie, Seymour's supposed assistant, and Peppermint Bear, Christmas is saved.
The performers from area high schools include Evan Kohne, Sierra Kelly, Lindsey Wilson, Holden Goyette, Emily Bacon, Rachel Batey, Kerrington Jones. The show also features special guest appearances by adult actors Russ Cowan, and Tony Stroh.
The Peppermint Bear Show first premiered at Portland's Lipman's Department Store, which then became Fredrick and Nelson. It became a popular Holiday tradition for over 30 years. Since that time the show has been produced in New York and countless cities on the east coast, mid-west and Hawaii. Lakewood's annual Holiday Breakfast Theatre production is celebrating its 23rd year. Audience members enjoy a special holiday continental breakfast 1/2 hour before the show and performers interact with young audience members to help them celebrate the holidays. There will even be a visit by a man in a red suit! The performance is suitable for ages 3-12.
