Oregon Children's Theatre is proud to present a sensory-friendly performance of The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors! This world premiere musical opened on March 2, 2019 at the Winningstad Theatre. Several performances have sold out, while many other performances have only limited seating available.
Based on the best-selling children's book by Drew Daywalt, The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors was co-commissioned by Oregon Children's Theatre and First Stage in Milwaukee, WI. "I chose The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors because this book is laugh-out-loud funny!" Stan Foote, Artistic Director at OCT, explains. "I grew up playing the game and the legend is all the more fun because it is part of our common human history. The final production will be as vibrant and funny as the source material."
"Offering a sensory-friendly performance is important to us and our vision to make theater accessible to all," Foote continued; "We don't want families to feel like they cannot participate with us for any reason."
During this performance, the audience lights will be on and the lights and sounds of the show will be softened. Patrons should feel free to move around the theater, exit and re-enter the space, be as expressive as they want and bring any items from home that provide comfort or familiarity (including electronic devices).
A Visual Performance Guide is available for families to download, which lays out just what to expect for your visit to see the show. Tickets for this performance are not available online, so please call the Box Office at 503-228-9571 to purchase.
