Northwest Children's Theater & School announces exciting upcoming events:
Capture the Flag' Event This Saturday!
Step One: Hide your flag. Step Two: Capture the other team's flag. Sound easy? Well, try adding distance, a whole team of people trying to get your flag, and enough confusion and strategy to last the whole evening! Join us this Saturday July 9 at Laurelhurst Park from 4:30-8pm for this classic game with the best thief of them all, Sam Burns. Open to all ages, this $25 event includes dinner and snacks. To register, email Development Assistant Nick Fenster.

Intern/Class Assistant Feature: Annie and FlorenceEducation Interns Annie Leonard and Florence LeBas really like each other. This is good, because they're spending every two-week session working together on "Annie's Hard Knock Life"!
Annie and Florence make a good team in the classroom and out. Last summer, they played a trick on fellow summer staffer Sam Burns. He had sprayed water on them, and they knew they had to get him back. Sweet revenge came in the form of a green frosted cupcake assault. (Oh, the humanity!)
Annie and Florence just finished their freshman years of college at New York University in NYC and Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, respectively. They have both been education interns (also known as class assistants) for the past two summers, and would like you to know that they do not regularly attack people with baked goods. Just Sam Burns.
For the kid that dreams of winning an Oscar (or just seeing themselves on video), Sandra Peabody's "Film Workshop" class is the perfect fit. With two classes for different age groups (8-11 and 12-18), students will work on improvisation, interview and audition skills while using real commercial, film and TV scripts. This class is designed give all campers at any level new skills and confidence, so sign up today and get your camper ready for their close-up!
Safety First! NWCT Upgrades Alarm SystemNWCT and the Northwest Neighborhood Cultural Center have recently finished a fire alarm upgrade project. At the end of June, 30 new fire alarms were installed on all levels of our building. Though always up to code, the building now boasts THE most state-of-the-art fire alarm system in the fire safety world! Our thanks to the foundations who helped us with this project, including Metro, the Rotary Club of Portland, 405 Parks and Recreation Fund of the Oregon Community Fund, and the Poznanski Foundation.
Nob Hill=Fun in the SunOne of the coolest things about NWCT (aside from our awesome shows and fun classes) is our proximity to NW 23rd Avenue, a hoppin' street in one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods. Located just four blocks west of NWCT, come visit during the 'Nob Hill Sizzling Summer Extravaganza', featuring sidewalk sales, restaurant specials and even pedicab rides.
