Kait, a staged reading of the play by Rebecca Petchenik, will premiere on Sunday, February 3rd at Hipbone Studio, located at 1847 E. Burnside St. #104. The play is a sci-fi legal drama that explores themes of women's empowerment, Artificial Intelligence, queerness, and trans rights. The reading is an entry in the Fertile Ground 2019 Festival lineup, and is co-produced by PDX Playwrights and Zelda Strong.

Opening on the last day of Fertile Ground, Sunday, February 3rd, Kait will only have one performance. Tickets to the show cost $10, and all earnings will go straight to local LGBTQ artists.

Kait is the story of true Artificial Intelligence occurring in an animatronic sex doll who kills her abusive owner, and the efforts of Kait's original programmer and her lawyer to save her from destruction at the hands of the state.

The play's author, Rebecca Petchenik, is directing, and Serafina Goodnight is playing the titular role. Kait is unique among Fertile Ground productions for its all-women cast and crew, and for being written, directed, produced by, and starring transgender women.

Kait also stars Sadie Carpenter, Eve Johnstone, Karyn O'Bryant, Jemi Mansfield, Olivia McFadden, and Laura Schwarz.
