Miracle Theatre Group invites the public to its holiday open house from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at El Centro Milagro (525 S.E. Stark St., Portland). This unique fundraiser will feature the talents of some of Miracle's favorite Latino musicians and dancers along with spirited beverages, eggnog, and the opportunity to receive some lovely holiday gifts when guests make a tax-deductible donation to the Miracle. An assortment of gift certificates, FlexPasses and stocking stuffers will be available for purchase.

Teatro Milagro Artistic Director Dañel Malan will get the afternoon started with some Christmas standards on her ukulele. She will be joined by Joaquín López, sharing some of the songs he has composed for the upcoming world premiere of American Sueño. Caguama, a local Tex-Mex band, will get things cooking along with salsa dance lessons by Gabriela Portuguez. Even Santa will slip in at some point and everyone will have a chance to sit on his lap - guests should plan to bring their cameras! Every donor will receive a thank-you gift ranging from either a traditional Mexican tin ornament for their tree, a booklet of poetry, a jar of Milagro spice or more elaborate gifts, such a huichol art or Frida Kahlo prints.

From Thanksgiving through New Year's, the Miracle Theatre Group will also be collecting canned food for the Oregon Food Bank.
